TempJar TempJar

Frequently Asked Questions

TempJar provides free temporary email addresses. You do not need an account to create or reopen an inbox.

Do I get an inbox automatically?

Yes. The moment you land on TempJar a random address is already ready for you — copy it and use it, no form, no sign-up. It stays in this browser for 24 hours, then disappears if unused. If you want to keep an address longer, create a custom one (6 months) or claim it into a vault (forever).

What is a temporary email?

A disposable address you use instead of your real inbox for sign-ups, trials and downloads, so spam never reaches your personal mail.

How is TempJar different?

Most temp mail is random and vanishes. Here you choose a custom handle and lock it with a password, so you can reopen the same inbox for 6 months without an account — or keep it forever by claiming it into a vault.

Do I need an account?

No. No-login mode needs only handle + password. A vault account is optional.

What if I forget my inbox password?

It cannot be recovered if you have no vault account — that is deliberate. Save it in a password manager.

Can I download attachments?

Yes, for mail received after this update: open the message and press Download under Attachments. Files are capped at 5 MB each, are stored with the message until you delete it, and are always downloaded — never opened inside the page. Older mail shows filenames only.

How will I know new mail arrived?

An open inbox refreshes every 15 seconds. When new mail arrives you get a banner in the inbox and the browser tab title flashes — press “Notify me” in the inbox header and your browser will also tell you when the tab is in the background. Notifications never include the message itself, only that new mail arrived.

Is it free?

Yes — launch is free, supported by ads. Premium (forwarding, no ads) is coming soon and is not sold yet.

Can I use it for banking?

No. Temporary addresses are for low-stakes sign-ups, trials and newsletters — never for banking or accounts you cannot afford to lose.
